I had the great privilege to travel to India in November of last year to take part in the founding of an educational training program between the University of Southern California, where I am on faculty, and the Srikiran Eye Institute in Kakinada, a small-ish (for India standards) city in Southern India. Aside from spending two weeks in gorgeous jewel toned saris (check it out), I cared for patients, operated, learned new operations, lectured, learned some more, explored, tried new foods and had an overall wonderful time. I wrote about the first week in Kakinada for the USC Roski Eye Institute blog. While it has a slightly different focus than a fashion blog, ModaMD, if nothing else, is about encouraging you to explore your passions outside of the white coat and feeling confident, beautiful and supported to do so!
Read about the adventure below -- and some updates from USC!
