Cabo in Review

Everyone who knows me, knows that I have a special love for Cabo. It's sort of the best of all my worlds. I lived in Mexico for a summer and love Mexican culture, food, bright colors, and speaking my twangy-midwestern-accented spanish! But Cabo is a chic-2-hours-from-LA version of all of it which makes trips easy! I spent Christmas there a few weeks ago and wanted to share some of my favorite spots as well as what to pack if you're making a snow-bird (desert-bird?) get away anytime soon!

Where to stay? I love staying on Medano Beach because its central to everything and the views are insanely gorgeous but I don't feel like I am in Spring Break central. I recommend Cachet Beach (previously Cabo Villas) over the Marina or the grand -- but isolated --- hotels closer to the airport (but they are really nice! The Westin and Palmilla are in this strip). It's just my preference to walk around and explore -- I receive no love from Cachet if you book!

Where to eat? There are so many great spots but my faves!

Edith's - one of the oldest in Mexico and a MUST! Get guacamole at the table.

Isabel's - tucked in a corner towards (but not in) the Marina is tiny and unassuming but the catch of the day will knock your socks off (check out that Red Snapper!!)

Gardenias Taco for lunch - such great selection and the tacos are <$2 each and great quality

The Office - toes in the sand and sip margaritas at this beach side casual spot (same owners as Ediths) -- there is also a cute home store just across the street

And for late night snacks we found Snackbar 69 -- its a local bar with delicious tacos and margaritas. Not fancy but they will treat you like family!

What to wear? I mean that's why you're reading this blog right!? I'm not the best light packer but for beachy get-aways it's easy - swim suits, cover ups, and long flowey dresses. Don't forget to protect your skin with big sunglasses and a hat! Try a wide brimmed flopper from my fave, Goorin Bros. One pair of heeled sandals, one pair of flats, and flip flops! Most of my cover ups are old now -- but I like to buy swim coverups that can double as dresses. My favorite brands for these are Trina Turk, DVF and soft cottony options from Bella Luxx. I also like Trina's swimwear and Ted Baker also has great suits.

I have two faves for flowey dresses and jumpsuits -- Stella & Jamie (of FaithLilli) and Karen Zambos! They have tons of amazing options!

This fantastic S&J jumpsuit has a gorgeous strappy back and is so flattering!

The Karen Zambos Dani Dress is one of my faves -- I have this in multiple prints and wear them all the time! They're sold out now but check out the website for other sale dresses - like this one - and watch for the Dani next season.

The dress of the trip was definitely the Cleo dress from Karen Zambos (now on an amazing sale!). I wore this to Christmas dinner at Edith's and was stopped multiple time to share the details! It does bare a little midriff and if you're tall you will bare more (see model in link) but it's an absolutely perfect dress for a sun soaked vacation.

Here's wishing you a little time for a sun soaked escape soon!
