Whenever I travel to wine country I feel so absolutely blessed to live in this gorgeous state and have access to the best weekend trips ever. There are many, many in depth review sites on drinking and dining in Napa -- and this blog post barely skims the surface -- but is meant to give you a few of my favorites and maybe inspire some style for your next weekend getaway.
We stayed at the Silverado Resort (which is where the wedding was held) -- it is a golf/timeshare resort with easy access to Napa, a cute spa and market. The staff seem to cater to their members more than their hotel guests (which I mean, I guess it depends on who you are if this is good or bad) but the rooms were cute, the location great, many pools, and the grounds well kept. The juice bar makes a mean beet juice too.
Seriously, where does one start. You're on the Silverado Trail and there are so, so many lovely vineyards with tasting rooms, in-town tasting rooms, and really outstanding wine menus at every restaurant. It is hard to go wrong. I love Cabernet and the Silver Oak is known as a Cabernet specific vineyard so we spent an afternoon there -- the tour is worth the extra $20 and the tasting is amazing. For a day in wine country consider a big, flowey skirt with a tank and sandals (it is hot, and summer after all) but the skirt will keep you cool and help keep a polished, feminine look. I wear this Stella & Jamie Gwenyth skirt to work too (with a blouse and pumps) and love how colorful but versatile it is. The sandals are from Casadei (the Nero) which I found on The Outnet. They're gone now because I only buy things on super sale -- but if you search some places may have your size online (I also have these in nude and am very happy with them).
Really hard to turn down wine in Napa, but Morimotos has beautiful views and a great cocktail menu if that's more your style
The food. Seriously the food in Napa (and Healdsburg and Yountville and all the surrounding areas) is so, so good -- any place you stumble upon will probably treat you well but here were a few of my faves.
Tapas at Taberna - please, please do the cheese plate, the ceviche, and the shrimp.
The Oxbow Market is so hip and cute -- and will not disappoint. From building your own cheese plate, to sampling olive oil, to oysters, to a great hamburger and shake shack-- the Market has you covered.
Finally, my favorite place was this lovely outdoor patio at french restaurant Angele. Order the sancerre and something with the fries and have a super, lazy, lovely lunch overlooking the river. Consider a white eyelet dress and nude flats. The dress is Ophelia Song, a LA based designer, and the flats are Aquazzura from Net-a-porter (similar ones). Napa is absolutely an excellent getaway and I hope you all have the chance to try out some of these places!
