Being a godmother has been one of my proudest roles and it was recently my sweet god-daughter's 1 year birthday. We all celebrated together with korean food, rice cakes, and destiny choosing (money!). For the occasion I wore Self Portrait for the first time. The brand is known for their thick, intricate guipire lace designs and the delphinium satin dress did not disappoint (on sale from one of my favorite online bargain sites, The Outnet). I am wearing a UK 6 which is akin to a US size 0 -- aside from a small alteration to shorten the straps it fit off the hanger. The lace is very thick as is the mesh underskirt which is meant to give the piece a little flounce -- but if you're nervous about looking hippy this isn't the dress for you because it does accentuate that look with a broad skirt coming off of a grosgrain belt at the waist. The back is open just a peep but a strapless bra works perfectly.
I choose some David Yurman cable bracelets (have had these forever and I love them) and pearls from India to keep the look feminine. The pink Abel Jimmy Choo pumps helped with that as well (these are close, or search online). The navy leather fringed clutch (because I can't do just a straight feminine look without adding a tiny edge!) is Clare V, also from the Outnet. Overall am pleased with the fit and quality and will surely snap up another next time I find a good sale! xo
