I have featured this cute Lionna Elizabeth and James skirt before (here) and love wearing this to work. Many of my ophtho colleagues hate pencil skirts but I just swing my legs to the side (see below)-- but only do it if you're comfortable. I recently wore this skirt with an (old) cotton sleeveless peplum top (similar) and basic black pumps to work. Elizabeth and James runs small -- I would wear a 2 and struggle with a 0 in this brand. Most of their pieces, however, are meant to be worn fitted.
After work, I was going to a play in Hollywood (Building the Wall -- I recommend it) at the Fountain theatre) so I did a quick change to the matching midi top and black casadei sandals (both pieces >80% off from the Outnet, but gone now). It of course completely changes the look of the skirt so I wanted to share it with you all.
The midi top is not for everyone or really every city (LA is way more casual about this than many places) but if you're looking to try it, keep everything else conservative. I actually really like this Elizabeth and James crepe and chiffon version (and how it is styled on the outnet with wide leg pants) and conservative flats. Also, for some reason a little midriff seems ok but make sure your belly button is covered if you're not at the beach! Just a few recs from me!
