No matter where you are, spring is an inspiring time! Blooms are everywhere, the air has changed, and sometimes (if you're lucky) the sun is still shining after work. The recent spring weather (and I think 2 weeks abroad) have inspired me to spend some time exploring some of my local neighborhood gems and to share them with you all! Spring is also the perfect time to be inspired to try something new -- a new style, something you've admired, or tick one off the bucket list!
My new favorite brunch spot-- taking over other neighborhood fave, Lincoln, but maybe only because I can ride my bike there-- is Seed Bakery. It is super small and cute with a short but delightful menu of breakfast foods and sandwiches. And they had me at: we serve avocado toast all day (with an egg!). This avocado toast also has Za'atar and oil and was delic! It was a perfect opportunity to haul this cute lace Stella & Jamie tank from the archives and go for a bike ride (similar feel from another favorite designer, KZ)
For dinner (they open at 5) try Bacchus Kitchen. To be honest, somethings here are a total hit (outdoor patio, wine list-- try the Cab, fish dishes, and scallops) and others seem a little experimental (not-so-gumbo-y-gumbo) but it is a great little spot for a bite on a spring evening. A Karen Zambos tank over maroon Vince jeans was the perfect outfit. The T-bank tank is sold out but try this same butterfly print Ana top (on sale!). Karen has taught me a lot about style but I used to be so shy about ANY bra showing. She thought I was nuts ("do you think people don't know you wear a bra", she would say?). So I invested in a few bras with tight lace details (pretty, not showey) and now it is basically just like a peek of camisole. You can barely tell that it is showing in this top. Note: this is NOT work appropriate style, but totally ok for a casual dinner somewhere warm.
Everyone should have a favorite neighborhood coffee place -- mine is everyone's favorite, sadly, but it is so amazing! Lavender & Honey Espresso House (ahem, its an espresso house!) makes this lovely French Lavender Breve that is absolutely delightful. The avocado toast and salads are pretty good too. After your caffeine fix stop by Lark and grab a cupcake (red velvet, please!)
And even if you're less into avocado toast than I am (all my friends on the East Coast are rolling their eyes right now anyways) take some #springspiration and enjoy the new green growth and blossoms in your 'hood. You won't regret it!
