It's officially the mad holiday dash. Which for the working woman includes a smattering of office holiday parties over the next several weeks. Many of you have reached out and asked for tips for looking holiday cocktail chic - yet appropriate for your work colleagues. Some hard and fast rules exist: not too short and not too low cut. Glitter and sparkle!? yes, please! I pulled together a look from my closet which probably all of your already have (or should! they're closet essentials for the working woman!) which includes a black pencil skirt, a white satin shirt and pumps. If you're headed to the party after work choose a top with sleeves, otherwise sleeveless is totally ok! Open toes are ok too (if you're not in a snowy climate)!
Everyone should have a great black pencil skirt - I happen to like the slimming effect of a bandage skirt. Here's a high end (but on sale!) option and a more reasonable version (BCBG and Herve are part of the same style group so I find have similar cuts too). A little satin adds a bit of holiday glam -- and you can wear color here too! Silver or red or emerald would be gorgeous. My favorite go-to pumps are always Jimmy Choo -- honestly, while I wear other brands they're the most comfortable for me. These are the Abel, a style which no longer exists, but has been replaced by the slightly more rounded-toe Romy. The 85mm is a flexible option that's not too high for work and not too conservative for going out. Love them! (and many are on sale right now).
Touch up your makeup before the event - and of course a classic look is a deep red lip. ReLux Vintage (and awesome high-end retail consignment site that I follow -- and so should you!) gifted me with this gorgeous Snowball gift bag set from MAC for glamorously glossy red lips that truly do last through a cocktail or two (but yes, you will get lipstick on the glass!).
And if all of this seems like too much throw on your favorite LBD, sparkle and shine like my gorgeous college classmate, Brooke! (ideas? LBD1 & LBD2 -- or the Stella & Jamie Exo that Brooks is wearing). Finally, while I will let the other bloggers keep you up to date on all the great sales right now, two of my favorite sites for holiday sales are Outnet & its fancier cousin, Net-a-porter. For my LA crew, Follow me on ig @_moda_md for sample sales updates!
Have fun at all those holiday parties, Modas! xoxo (The cheese dogs send their love too)
