I have been traveling all over recently -it has been so exciting to be able to speak about ocular oncology in all these amazing locales - like Pensacola for the Gulf Coast Ophthalmic Summit. The meeting was the day before Irma! So Pensacola was packed with people from the more southern parts of Florida -- there was a lot of energy and nerves and of course, lots of Southern charm (and food!) to go around. The conference is causal so I chose a sweet floral dress from Black Halo with black colorblock side panels (slimming!) and a comfy knit blazer which was also great on the plane (closest available now). As anyone who follows Moda knows, I think everyone should consider a Black Halo sheath -- they're such perfect workwear pieces.
Dressing for work/conferences/work events is (in my opinion) a really important skill set for the professional woman. You want to look polished, but also fitting of the meeting/event -- a stuffy black pants suit would be perfect for some places but not this conference. Remembering your venue will make you more comfortable there and more yourself while presenting! Afterwards I had time for a little fun in the Gulf (and ahem, some shrimp and grits!). I'm grateful this area was not hit too badly by Irma and sending prayers to those areas that were. xo
