One dress, three ways

As a busy surgeon I often need a look that will transition easily from work to play. A go to when I need this is Yumi Kim who makes gorgeous silk dresses in pretty, bold patterns. The brand's Elana shift dress is a great transitional piece -- with the right accessories you can wear this dress in multiple ways.

For work, I've paired it with a basic cropped cardigan like this one and my go-to black kid leather Jimmy Choo pumps. I am short so get away with this length but if you're tall this dress is likely too short for work and you will need a longer shift (limit to 2-3 inches above the knee cap).

For a more casual weekend look add a simple denim jacket like this one and sparkly Lola Cruz sandals. You're all set to stroll the farmers market on Saturday morning now!

Evening out? No problem in this dress. Throw on a pair of strappy stilletos and the look is instantly glamorous. I adore the LK Bennett Leah eyelet sandals which are flirty and fun but also truly comfortable (as far as heels go, at least!).

A secret treat in this pretty sheath is the exposed zipper detailing in the back -- one of my favorite features on a dress.
